Yannick Boquin trained at the Paris Opera and the National Conservatory of Paris. Principle dancer with Bonn Opera Ballet, Royal Ballet of Flanders, Rome Opera Ballet and Deutsche Oper Berlin. He received several prizes including the Leonide Massine Award in 1995. Currently in great demand as a teacher at the leading companies including: the Dutch National Ballet, Australian Ballet Company, Nederland Dans Theater, Béjart Ballet Lausanne, Paris Opera, Finnish Opera, Dresden Semper Oper, the Cullberg Ballet and the Royal Swedish Ballet. 

Yannick Boquin about teaching: “In class, I give myself to the dancers body and soul, which is as it should be. The dancers usually give back to me as well; it’s a real exchange, which is very satisfying.
The advantages of freelancing? I get to travel the world and meet lots of people. I see so many ballets and dancers, different cultures, enjoy great food, great hospitality and…I am free!“

Shirley Essenboom dancer and freelance teacher Shirley Essenboom has been (guest)teaching classical ballet at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag since 2005 and has been performing wit the Nederlands Dans Theater for 14 years. Born in March 1975 (and raised) in Den Haag, Shirley completed her dance training at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag. At age 23 she received the ‘Encouragement Award’ by Stichting Dansersfonds ‘79.

She started her dance career with the Nederlands Dans Theater II, than moved on to the main company Nederlands Dans Theater I. She worked with choreographers such as Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, Paul Lightfood, Sol Leon and William Forsythe. After a one season break to dance with Les Ballets de Monte Carlo in 2003 she rejoined the Nederlands Dans Theater.


Tamas Nagy Born in Boedapest, Hungary (1975) at present principal soloist of the National Ballet, in Amsterdam and guest soloist with Hungarian National Ballet
Nagy was awarded several grants including: 1st prize of the academy’s competition; M.Horvát Academy Award, Finalist at the Osaka International Ballet Competition, 2nd prize winner of the Nureyev International Ballet Competition, Philip Morris Hungarian Ballet Award, Viktor Fülöp Scholarship of the Hungarian State, Harangozó Prize of the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and EuropaS Ballet Award.

Before coming to the Netherlands in 1999, he danced with the Hungarian State Opera Ballet Company. As a guest solist he has been perfoming with Teatro Opera di Roma, Rambert Ballet, Opera de Nice, Deutcher Oper am Rhein, Royal Scottish Ballet, Finnish National Ballet, Helsinki and Korean National Ballet, Seoul.

At this time Tamas Nagy is dancing prinicipal parts in great classical ballets such as Romeo and Juliet, Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, Swan Lake, Giselle and Don Quijote. And work by Balanchine, Rudi van Danzig, Hans van Manen, Glen Tetley and other well known choreographers.

After graduating from Canada´s  National Ballet School, Lisa Drake began a long career with Netherlands Dans Theater (NDT I & II). At NDT she worked extensively with choreographers such as Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Hans van Manen,  Nacho Duato, William Forsythe and the company´s director Jiri Kylian.

In 1998 she began freelancing from her new base in Stockholm both as dancer and choreographer´s assistant. She joined Cullberg Ballet in 2001 and was awarded the Riksteater stipendium for best dancer 2003.

She has been setting works of Stijn Celis and Johan Inger and has given several workshops of both these choreographers material as well as that of Mats Ek. Since spring 2009 she is rehearsal director with Cullberg Ballet.


Sara Erens studied at Codarts/Rotterdamse Dansacademy and with a sholarship (by the Fonds van de Podium Kunsten) in New York. She danced with Ballet Innsbruck (Oostenrijk), Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Dance Company Krisztina de Chatel, Pieter de Ruiter’s Dancity and Dance Works Rotterdam.

At present she enjoys sharing her knowledge of contemporary choreography and in particularly her experience with the company repertory by Dance Works. This repertoire and especially the works by artistic director Ton Simons are an important addition to the dance schene in the Netherlands. Simons received several awards including the Merit Award 2004, in great appreciation of his qualities as a director and as a choreographer

Sara Erens has been teaching Dance Works repertoire at Codarts/Rotterdam Dance Academy, Summerschool Den Haag and in St. Petersburg, Russia.


Amos Ben-Tal born in Israel, completed his dance training at the National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada. Danced with the Nederlands Dans Theater I (NDT I) and assisted Ohad Naharin's productions of Black Milk and Zina as rehearsal director. As a choreographer, he created work for NDT I, Cadance, KORZO, Tanz-Scene festival Leipzig, Solo-Tanz-Theater-Festival Stuttgart (3rd prize), and Today's Art Festival in the Netherlands.

Brigitte Martin former dancer and rehearsal director with the Nederlands Dans Theater. At present teacher at Codarts Rotterdamse Dansacademie and responsible for setting ballets by Jiri Kilian and Hans van Manen at different companies.

Bruce Michelson former balletmaster with the Zurich Ballet and Ballet Gulbenkian in Lisbon. He danced with Pittsburgh Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, Geneva Ballet and NDT I. As balletmaster and rehearsal director he has been working with Ohad Naharin, Itzik Galili, Mats Ek, Jiri Kylian and Angelin Preljocaj. Guest teaching include a.o. La Scala, Staatstheater Saarbrücken, Kibbutz Dance Company, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Summerschool Den Haag and Galili Dance.

Csaba Kvasz danced in Germany and Budapest with the State Opera. He performed repertory by Balanchine, Rudi van Dantzig, Glen Tetly and Béjart. At present Kvasz is a freelance balletteacher a.o. at the Japan Ballet Association, Landestheater Salzburg, Hennie Jurriens Foundation, Danstraining Brabant, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Summerschool Den Haag and Tanzhaus Düsseldorf.

David Middendorp freelance choreopgrapher a.o. for Ballet Theatre München, KORZO Productions and Introdans. Danced with Introdans, Saarländische State Ballet and The Ballet Theater München (Germany). Former student at Balletschool Mabel Alter.

Dylan Newcomb danced with the Nederlans Dans Theater I perfoming a.o. choreographies by Jirí Kylián, Hans van Manen and Ohad Naharin. As a choreographer Newcomb received the Silver Dance Prize of Holland the Philip Morris Art Award and in collaboration with KORZO productions the Lucas Hoving Award for best Dutch dance production of the year.

Fernando Hernando Magadan dancer and choreographer Nederlands Dans Theater. Trained at Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Clasica, London Studio Centre and Central School of Ballet. He created chorographies for NDT, Curve Foundation Dance company Scotland and Cross Connection Dance Company Denmark. In 2010 he was invited to teach at Summerschool Den Haag, the Netherlands and Dance Art Faculty of Rome.

Henna Lee danced with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam for ten years and worked with choregraphers Ed Wubbe, Itzik Galili, Bianca van Dillen, Thom Stuart and Nanine Linning. Began teaching at Balletschool Mabel Alter. Currently teaching at Codarts Rotterdamse Dansacademie.

Isabelle Chaffaud independent choreographer, working together with Jérôme Meyer, creating choreographies for Ballet du Grand Theatre de Genève, Life Arts Festival Philadelphia, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and Korzo Theatre. Dancer with Batsheva Dance Company and Nederlands Dans Theater I. Nominated for the Swan of best dance-performance in 2004-2005.

Iva Lesić received her education at Balletschool Mabel Alter and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Dancer with the International Dance Theatre in Amsterdam.

Jane Lord first soloist with Dutch National Ballet. Performed classical repertory as well as many ballets by Rudi Van Dantzig, Toer Van Schayk, Sir Frederick Ashton and George Balanchine. Guest teacher at several places including Scapino Ballet and Codarts Rotterdamse Dansacademie and on the Board of The Dutch Health Care Foundation for Dancers.

Keith-Derrick Randolph dancer, choreographer and artistic staff member from 1989 till 2004 with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam. Freelance teacher a.o. Royal Conservatory The Hague, Bird College of Performing Arts in England and most recently at Codarts Rotterdamse Dansacademie. As an independent choreographer he has made works for Korzo Theater, various Dance Academies in the Netherlands, Inspiration Project II in Den Haag and the National Ballet of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kristen Cere trained at École supérieure de ballet contemporain. Danced with Le Jeune Ballet du Québec, NDT II, Les Ballets de la Parenthese (Marseille), Tanz Graz (Austria), and in the Netherlands with David Middendorp and Nanine Linning. Together with Francois Chirpaz she has been choreographing for: a.o. Festival des Arts de Saint Sauveur/Quebec, Tanz Graz/Austria, Théâtre de Verdure/Québec and KORZO.

Leila Kester speciliased in Floorbarre and Pilates for professional dancers. Member of the board; Dutch Dancer's Health Care Foundation and commited to the two major dance companies in the Netherlands: Dutch National Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theater. Dancers within these companies use Pilates and floorbarre by Kester to intensify technique and strength and to recover from injuries. She is also teacher at the Theatre School in Amsterdam (AHK) and opened her own Pilates studio in Amsterdam.

Lisa Drake Rehearsal Director Cullberg Ballet. Received her education at Canada´s National Ballet School. Dancer with Nederlands Dans Theater I and II and Cullberg Ballet. She worked extensively with choreographers such as Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, Hans van Manen, William Forsythe and Mats Ek and was awarded the Riksteater stipendium for best dancer. She has been setting works of Stijn Celis, Johan Inger and Mats Ek.

Lonneke van Leth danced for Introdans, DDDDD and Lopez Ochoa. She created choreographies for Theater production House: Generale Oost, KORZO Theater, The Ice Land Dance Company, High School for Performing Art in Arnhem and the International Dance Theater. In 2004 she received an award for young artists in The Hague.

Mabel Alter former dancer with the Ballet van de Nederlands Opera, het Nederlands Ballet and one of the pioneers of Nederlands Dans Theater. She received her education by Lilly Green and Sonia Gaskells Ballet Recitel. She danced classical and contemporary repertoire including work by Rudi van Dantzig, Hans van Manen and George Balanchine. Mabel Alter has been teaching classical technique at the international contemporay school: Codarts Rotterdamse Dansacademie. And is the founder of the international private school for classical ballet 'Balletschool Mabel Alter' in the city centre of The Hague.

Maurice Causey Ballet master and rehearsal director NederlandsMaurice Causey Dans Theater, teacher a.o. Ballet Frankfurt, Cullberg Ballet, Hanover Ballet and Royal Swedish Ballet. Causey had his premiere with NDT as a choreographer in 2008 with “Mood Swings” and was nominated for best Dutch Dance Production for this work. He created choreographies for Milwaukee Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, Stockholm 59 North and Inspiration Project III which was initiated by Summerschool Den Haag. On invitation by the Holland Dance Festival special projects including Inspiration Project III are invited to perform on the Project Stage YouTube...

Natalia Horecna dancer at the National Theatre of Slowakije, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, soloist at Hamburg Ballet and at present with Nederlands Dans Theater I. She made several choreographies including for Nederlands Dans Theater's project ''Workshop'', Korzo Productions and the National Theater of Kosice. She has been working with young dancers at Summerschool Den Haag, teaching repertoire created by her for the State Theatre of Košice.

Philipp Stummer danced with: the Austrian companies Esther Linley Dance Company, Andrea Müller's 'Die Tanzenden' and the Bob Curtis Afro-Limon Dance Company. In 1989 Stummer joined with NND/Galili Dance.

Robert Hlatky former dancer at the Scapino Ballet, received his education at the Conservatoire of Prague and Nationale Balletacademie, Amsterdam. Started his teaching career a.o. as guestteacher at Balletschool Mabel Alter and Codarts/Rotterdamse Dansacademie. He is also committed to the Private Dance Conservatoire in Kosice in Slovakia and earned a Post graduate study in Dance Therapy.

Rinus Sprong danced with Nederlands Dans Theater II, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Bat-Dor Dance Company and performed in Grace the musical en Cabaret Lulu Entertainment (NY). At present director of: De Dutch Don't Dance Division together with Thom Stuart (see also Thom Stuart).

Ruben Brugman received his education at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and danced with The Dutch Nationale Ballet. He was rewarded by the Dutch 'Dansersfonds' for performing principal roles in Violin Concerto by Balanchine. He has been teaching at Theatre School Amsterdam, Balletschool Mabel Alter and The Benesh Institute.

Sabrina Vis dancer with a.o. the Dutch Don’t Dance Division and Krisztina de Châtel. Performed work by Conny Janssen, Ann van den Broek, Sjoerd Vreugdenhil and Massimo Molinari. She expanded her career to Musicals as a dancer and dance Captain for Joop van den Ende’s TARZAN and Mary Poppins. To intoduce (ballet)students into the world of Musicals, Summerschool Den Haag invited her to teach a Musical workshop in July 2009.
