motivated youngsters.

Ballet classes and workshops in the Netherlands during the Summer

This is the place where students are getting noticed. With the focus on quality rather than quantity, small classes and professional teachers, Summerschool Den Haag is one of Holland's most appreciated schools for the personal touch in dance training.

Summerschool Den Haag has the possibility of creating an individual schedule for each student and a telephone number for Personal Assistance when choosing classes and/or workshops.

The programme includes daily balletclasses and workshops for amateurs and professionals. With contemporary dance, company repertoire, pointe technique and choreography as well as Step by Step Basic Ballet for beginners and pointe introductory. With some of the workshops it might be necessary to have certain technical skills while other workshops will be suitable for students with a basic level or no dance experience at all. 

This year Summerschool Den Haag has invited Cullberg’s rehearsal director Lisa Drake for the Cullberg Ballet workshop ‘At the frontline of Modern Dance’ during which a small group of students will have the opportunity to learn Mats Ek’s ‘She Was Black’.
Among this year’s guestteachers you will find Tamas Nagy, principal Soloist with the Dutch National Ballet, Monique Sand, teacher at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and Charlotte Chapellier 2nd Soloist with the Dutch National Ballet. YOUNGSTERS 11+
For pre-professional youngsters from 11 and older (attending a preparatory dance course at one of the vocational dance schools), the Summerschool is an
excellent organisation (especially if it is a first time summercourse experience) giving personal attention and guidance when making your reservation.

LOCATION Summerschool is located in the city centre of the Hague, Capital of South-Holland and Royal city of the Netherlands. Right across Summerschool is the Queens Palace-Noordeinde and de Paleistuin (Palace Garden). At the corner of streets: Noordeinde and Molenstraat you will find boutiques and the CoffeeCompany.

The shopping center is within 5 minutes walking distance with the ballet shop: Papillon and the 'Plein' with restaurants and bars. All department stores and most shops are open on Sunday.    Scheveningen is the most popular sea-side resort which is only a 15 minute tramride from the centre.

 Interesting places to visit for culture are the Mauritshuis and the Houses of Parliament at the "Binnenhof" where you will also find the Tourist Information Office.


 Picture: the Street where Summerschool Den Haag is located. The canals of The Hague are almost 400 years old. You can make a Canal Tour in an open boat and find yourself on the Canal right between our Summerschool (r) and the Palace Garden (l).

TRANSPORTATION

For transportation, the Summerschool is accessible by Tram 17 straight from the Central Station and the Hollands Spoor Station (your stop is De Noordwal).

BALLETSTUDIO

The balletstudio is known for its romantic and beautiful ambience. It was originally a photostudio for the Dutch photographer C.J.L Vermeulen and was transformed into a balletstudio during 1970 by former Nederlands Dans Theater dancer Mabel Alter.

There is a small lounge and a shower available for all dancers.
